Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 11:30 am–8:30 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach JA Jiaozi Authentic Dumplings at (714) 786-8999; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is jajiaozi.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.3 out of 5 on Google across 581 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded shanghainese & dumplings in Irvine.

Irvine is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Irvine follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

What a pleasant surprise! We decided to try this dim sum spot and I’m so glad we did. One piece of advice: definitely get on the waitlist ahead of time because this place gets busy and the lines can get long for a reason. We ordered a little bit of everything including different kinds of dim sum, jiaozi, fried rice, the honey black pepper Angus, and of course milk tea with boba. Honestly, every single dish was delicious. Everything was well seasoned without being overly salty, which I really appreciated. The flavors felt balanced and you could tell care went into the food. The honey black pepper Angus was incredibly flavorful, the fried rice was cooked perfectly, and the dumplings were fresh and packed with filling. The milk tea and boba were also so good and the perfect way to finish the meal. The service was great from start to finish, and there was plenty of parking, which is always a huge plus. I’m so happy we found this place and it will definitely be added to our regular rotation. Can’t wait to come back and try even more dishes!

We’ve been coming here for years for the delicious dumplings. Much closer and easier than DTF, and the dumplings are soooo yummy! We always order XLB, pork belly, and hot and sour soup. Our kids love their smoothies.

One of my go to place to have authentic Chinese dumplings at reasonable prices. There is a similar restaurant across from this place, but Ja Jiaozi is my β€œGo-To” place based on the price and quality. I have been coming over here since its grand-opening (2020)!! I will visit here again for real authentic Chinese dumplings over Din Tai Fung if I don’t have time to wait 30-60 mins for a table!! Great services always included!!!

I had heard about this place several times and recently decided to stop by while craving Chinese dumplings and passing through the area. The restaurant itself is elegant, thoughtfully designed, and creates a welcoming atmosphere. As for the food, it was decent overall, though not particularly memorable. The fried rice was enjoyable, but unfortunately not among the better versions I’ve had. The dumplings, which I was most looking forward to, were also underwhelming and lacked the depth and character I expected. The beef with peppers was flavorful and well-prepared, though the portion size felt quite small for the price. Overall, the experience was pleasant, but the value simply did not align with the pricing.

Went here for a birthday lunch. The food was amazing! We tried a bunch of different things, like steamed and fried dumplings. The XLB was delicious, and the fried rice was so flavorful, plus it had whole shrimps on top. The spice wonton wasn't super spicy, but still really good! You should definitely check this place out if you're around.
